The blog shows your posts in a grid with category filters and an optional sidebar. Posts are written in the regular WordPress editor.
Setting up the blog page
- Go to WP Admin → Pages → Add New Page, name it “Blog” (or “News”, “Journal”…) and publish it. Leave it empty: WordPress replaces its content with your posts.
- Go to WP Admin → Settings → Reading.
- Under Your homepage displays, select A static page, choose your homepage, and choose your blog page in the Posts page dropdown.
- Click on Save Changes and add the blog page to your menu under WP Admin → Site Menus.
The header of the blog page (subtitle, title and description) and its sidebar are set under WP Admin → Lodge WP Settings → Blog Options, not on the page itself. See Blog Options.
Writing posts
Go to WP Admin → Posts → Add New Post.
- Featured image: shown on the blog cards and at the top of the post.
- Categories: the blog page shows a filter button for each category that has posts. Posts left in “Uncategorized” are not given a filter. The first category is shown on the post’s card.
- Tags: optional; each tag has its own archive page.
- Excerpt: the short text on the blog card. If empty, the beginning of the post is used.
- Featured Post: lists the post under Featured Posts in the blog sidebar, when that list is switched on.
What visitors see
- Blog page: the blog header, the category filters, then the posts in a grid. The first posts are shown larger.
- Category, tag, author and search pages: the same layout, filtered.
- Single post: the title, the author and date, share buttons (copy link and email), the featured image and the content.
Recent posts on other pages
The modules don’t include a blog list, so to point visitors to the blog from other pages, add a CTA or a Text & Media module with a button linking to your blog page.
