Every page on a LodgeWP website is built from modules, so you can create any page you need: an About page, a Contact page, a photo gallery, an FAQ page and so on. This article explains how, and how content like FAQs and testimonials is added and displayed.
Creating a page
- Go to WP Admin → Pages → Add New Page.
- Enter the page title. It’s used in menus, in the browser tab and by search engines, but not shown on the page itself.
- Click on Add Module and pick the modules you need. See Modules for the full list.
- Click on Publish and add the page to a menu under WP Admin → Site Menus.
Content types
Some content is added once, in its own menu in WP Admin, and then displayed on one or more pages with a module. These items don’t have pages of their own: they only appear where a module shows them.
Galleries
Go to WP Admin → Galleries → Add New. Give the gallery a name, for example “Interior” or “Surroundings”, and add your photos in the Images field. Drag the photos to change their order. Recommended size: at least 1776 × 1320 px for landscape photos.
Displayed with the Gallery module: all galleries in a mosaic with filter buttons (one button per gallery), or a short preview of one gallery.
Testimonials
Go to WP Admin → Testimonials → Add New.
- Title: a short headline shown above the review, e.g. “A perfect weekend”.
- Content: the review itself, in the editor.
- Author: the name shown under the review, e.g. Emily R.
- Stars: the star rating, from 1 to 5.
- Featured Item: featured testimonials are shown first, and can be selected on their own in a module.
Displayed with the Testimonials module and in the sidebar of accommodation pages.
FAQs
Go to WP Admin → FAQs → Add New. The title is the question and the editor holds the answer. Assign each FAQ to one or more categories, for example “Booking”, “Your Stay” or “Payments”. Manage the categories under WP Admin → FAQs → Categories: their description can be shown above each group of questions.
Displayed with the FAQs module: every FAQ grouped by category, whole categories, or hand-picked questions.
Reusable Sections
A reusable section is a group of modules you build once and place on several pages, for example a call to action or a testimonials row that appears on many pages. Go to WP Admin → Reusable Sections → Add New, add modules exactly like on a page, and publish. Then add it to a page with the Reusable Section module. When you edit the section, every page that uses it is updated.
The Reusable Sections list shows on which pages each section is used.
Common pages
Here are a few examples of how the usual pages of a holiday rental website are built:
- Homepage: Hero Banner (with the availability search), Text & Media, Accommodations (preview), Feature Cards, Gallery (preview), Testimonials (preview), FAQs (preview), Media CTA.
- About: Page Title, Text & Media, Stats Cards, Image Card Carousel, CTA.
- Accommodations: Page Title, Accommodations (full list). See Booking Pages.
- Gallery: Page Title, Gallery (full list, with filters).
- Amenities: Page Title, Feature Cards, Amenities.
- FAQ: Page Title, FAQs (full list).
- Testimonials: Page Title, Testimonials (full list).
- Contact: Page Title, Contact (with a form and a map).
The demos include all of these pages, so importing a demo is a quick way to see how they’re set up. See Demo Import.
Forms
The Contact module displays any form plugin through its shortcode. The theme styles the forms of Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, WPForms, Ninja Forms, Fluent Forms, Formidable Forms and Forminator to match your colors and fonts.
