Booking Pages

Documentation Menu

Accommodations are the rooms, cabins, suites or villas you rent out. Each one has its own page with photos, a description, features, amenities, prices and a booking form from WP Booking System.

Adding an accommodation

  1. Go to WP Admin → Accommodations → Add New.
  2. Enter the name of the accommodation, e.g. “Cedar Loft”.
  3. Set a Featured Image. It’s used on the accommodation cards in the Accommodations module.
  4. Fill in the tabs described below and click on Publish.

Overview

  • Subtitle and Title: the heading of the page. Leave the title empty to use the accommodation name.
  • Excerpt: a short summary shown on the accommodation cards, also used as the description for search engines.
  • Accommodation Details: short facts with an icon, e.g. “4 guests”, “2 bedrooms”, “60 m²”. Pick a Google icon or upload your own (SVG icons take the theme colors).
  • Check-in from and Check-out by: the times shown in the booking box.

Photos

  • Gallery Layout: Grid shows the first photos in a mosaic with a “View all photos” button; Slider shows one photo at a time.
  • Gallery: the photos of the accommodation. The first image is the large one at the top of the page. Recommended size: at least 1440 × 1280 px. Clicking a photo opens it in a lightbox.

Description

  • Accommodation Description: the main text of the page, shown under the photos.
  • Additional Information: a titled list of extra details, e.g. house rules or cancellation policy. Choose whether it’s shown in the content or in the sidebar.

Features & Amenities

  • Key Features: highlights with an icon, a title and an optional short text, e.g. “Hot tub – private, on the terrace”.
  • Amenities: amenities in groups, e.g. Kitchen, Bathroom, Outdoors, each with a check mark.

Sidebar

  • Pricing: the price at the top of the booking box, e.g. “From” $80 “/night”, with an optional note. The box also has a “Select dates” button that takes visitors to the booking calendar.
  • Help Box: contact details for questions: title, email address, phone number and address, with an optional Google Maps link.
  • Testimonials: up to three guest reviews, in the sidebar or in the content: the latest, the featured ones, random ones or hand-picked.

Booking

The Booking Form section at the bottom of the page shows the WP Booking System calendar and booking form. Add a subtitle, title and description, then choose the Calendar and the Form under Embed Options. The other options (legend, months to display, selection type and so on) are the same as in the WP Booking System Embed module.

Create the calendar and the booking form in WP Booking System first: they then appear in the Calendar and Form dropdowns. See the WP Booking System documentation.

How WP Booking System is embedded

WP Booking System handles the calendars, availability, prices, booking forms, payments and emails. LodgeWP displays them and styles them to match your website, in three places:

  • Accommodation pages: the calendar and booking form in the Booking tab, described above.
  • Any page: the WP Booking System Embed module shows a single calendar (with or without a form), a yearly calendar, an overview calendar of several accommodations, or the search widget.
  • The hero: the Hero Banner module can show an availability search box in its corner.

You don’t need to copy shortcodes: the modules list your calendars and forms in dropdowns. You can still paste any WP Booking System shortcode into a text module, and the plugin’s files load on that page too.

Availability search

To let visitors search for available accommodations:

  1. Create a page for the results, e.g. “Search Results”, with a WP Booking System Embed module set to Search Widget.
  2. Add a Hero Banner to your homepage, set its Corner Box to Availability Search, and enter the URL of your results page in Redirect URL.
  3. In WP Booking System, set each calendar’s link to its accommodation page, so the search results link to the right page.

Showing your accommodations

Use the Accommodations module to list them: all of them on an accommodations page, or a selection on the homepage.

Accommodation URLs

If you have a published page with the slug accommodations, accommodation pages are placed under it, e.g. yoursite.com/accommodations/cedar-loft/. Otherwise they sit at the top level, e.g. yoursite.com/cedar-loft/. Old links keep working and redirect to the current address.
